Investing in New Production Facilities

METALQUIMIA invests 7 million € in the purchase and setting up of its new production facilities, located in Palol de Revardit (Girona, Spain). The new facilities are next to the company’s current production site and occupy a total area of 10,000 m2, with 5.000 m2 of floor space dedicated to production. According to statements made by Josep Lagares, General Manager of the Girona-based firm, “…these new facilities, destined to increase the workshop for preparation and construction of stainless steel sheet metal, will allow the company to double its production and machine-assembling capacity, while freeing up space at its main headquarters in the city of Girona (Spain), with the goal of improving and increasing its engineering, design, research and innovation capacity, especially at this vital time when growing international demand makes it absolutely necessary to increase production capacity in order to fulfill the parameters of service and quality to which we are accustomed”. METALQUIMIA, with 90 % of its production destined for exportation to more than 70 countries, increased its turnover by 14% during the year 2007, and expects to reach the same growing percentage for the year 2008, as fruit of its diversification and constant presence in the international meat markets, most especially in the emergent markets. But, above all, this growth is the result of the systematic integral innovation strategy the company has been putting into practice for the past ten years, which has allowed the Girona firm, owned by the Lagares family, to launch on to the world meat market such innovative projects as, among others, the automatic cooking plant for meat products COOKLINE, developed jointly with the meat industry NOEL ALIMENTARIA, or outstanding breakthrough projects such as the QDS accelerated curing technology for meat products, developed jointly with IRTA (Instiute of Agriculture and Food Research and Technology) and CASADEMONT.
